Rhododendrons in Bloom. View of Ushba from Tetnuldi
Available
White rhododendrons bloom at altitudes above 2,000 metres. Yellow ones grow lower down, but above 2,000 metres only the white ones survive. In winter Tetnuldi is a ski resort in Svaneti, and in summer it is part of the stunning Mestia–Ushguli hiking route. Mount Ushba, with its twin peaks like little ears, is often hidden by clouds, but now and then it reveals itself in all its glory.

About
Hello, my name is Masha Shvedova, and I am an artist.
I was born in Russia and studied design at college and university. I then worked as a designer and an illustrator of children’s books.
I have been painting in oil on canvas for about 20 years, mostly nature: mountains, forests and the sea, and I often work en plein air. In my work I explore nature and natural phenomena and study the world around me. Nature is an endless source of inspiration for me.
In winter 2026 I held a solo exhibition of about 70 paintings devoted to the nature of Georgia.
Art is my freedom.
Artist statement
I choose oil painting because the medium endlessly inspires me: every day it reveals new facets and possibilities. I love painting en plein air and always take my paints and canvases with me.
I have moved around a lot, gathering impressions and painting along the way. My cat always travels with me, and some of my paintings bear his paw prints. I believe my art makes the world a better place and helps people notice the beauty around them. I have boundless admiration for nature; it is a source of great strength and inspiration for me.
I have been painting in oils for over 20 years, and with each passing year I fall more in love with this medium and its possibilities. Art is an integral part of me. Art is my freedom, and I strive to be at one with the world of my art.
My work is closely linked to Georgia: for the last four years I have been painting this country non-stop, and I want to share its beauty. I admire Georgia, its nature and its people, and never tire of painting them.
